Four generations of Belgian furniture makers

Where it began

The Arsène story began four generations ago with Arsène Defrancq, great-grandfather of current owner Anthony Defrancq. Trained as an architect, Arsène settled in Ledegem, West Flanders, where he began designing and building furniture in solid wood.

His knowledge passed from one generation to the next. Each added their own view of what furniture should be, and each stayed loyal to the same two principles: build it properly, and build it to last.

Today Anthony continues that line from the same town, working with contemporary materials and a modern design language, but with the same respect for the craft.

Where it goes

We design and build timeless furniture in Mortex and solid oak. Every piece is made to last, structurally, and in the way it looks ten years from now.

We work slowly and deliberately. Everything happens in our own atelier: the design, the moulds, the Mortex work, the finishing. Keeping production in house means we answer to no one else's lead times or limitations, which is exactly what allows us to take on pieces other makers turn down.

The atelier

Our workshop is in Ledegem, West Flanders. It is where every Arsène piece is made, and where clients and interior architects are welcome to see work in progress, feel the material and discuss a project in person.
